Helicopter Spirals Wildly into Palm Trees at Frequented Southern California Beach
A chopper soaring above a popular California beach abruptly commenced twirling out of control, ultimately dropping height and smashing into a cluster of palm fronds as beachgoers observed.
Videos shared on social media capture the aircraft starting to spin over the beach then descending towards the perimeter of the coast, where it becomes wedged amidst palms and a set of stairs close to the Pacific Coast highway.
Emergency Response Information
Local firefighters said five persons were taken to hospital comprising two individuals who were in the aircraft and were “safely pulled from the wreckage” following the incident on the weekend.
Three people on the street were hurt. Specifics on their condition were still under review.
The reason for the accident was not immediately released.
